An international law enforcement operation coordinated by INTERPOL and partner agencies has resulted in the identification of 2,070 victims of human trafficking, the arrest of 1,024 suspects, and the launch of 465 investigations across 59 countries.
Operation Global Chain, conducted from June 8 to 12, 2026, targeted criminal networks involved in sexual exploitation, forced labour, forced criminal activities, and forced begging.
The operation revealed several concerning trends, including the recruitment of underage girls through social media, the exploitation of migrant workers, and the trafficking of individuals into criminal activities in Southeast Asia.
In Belgium, authorities arrested 17 suspects linked to a network allegedly recruiting minors for sexual exploitation. In Argentina, police rescued two Bolivian children subjected to labour exploitation.
Identified victims were referred to national protection and support services.
The operation highlights the importance of international cooperation, early victim identification, and coordinated law enforcement action in combating human trafficking.
