Meeting of GRETA and Audio-Visual Teams

In the framework of the 2nd Round Evaluation of regional governments’ efforts in the fight against trafficking, GRETA team made a visit to Armenia to meet with the organizations which work in anti-trafficking area.

A meeting was also organized by GRETA experts with ‘Association of Audio-Visual Reporters’ team, during which AAVR team presented the activities of the recent years of the organizations in the anti-trafficking sphere and answered the questions by the experts with regard the achievements, developments, tendencies, challenges and difficulties in the fight against trafficking.

Discussed has been the project ‘’Development of Anti-Trafficking Information Platform’’, with its achievements, strategies, goals, activities, developments, partnerships, expectations and results.

The developments and tendencies in the Mass Media sphere have been presented with the Audio-Visual Reporters Association remarks and analysis. In this context, the team told about the Annual Journalism Award, for which the team is investing its organizational efforts, providing journalistic materials on trafficking issues which have been monitored during the year and selected as nominees for the awards.

Further on, the team passed on to presenting the one of its strategically important Armenia-Turkey Information Cooperation project, which took place in September, highlighting the need of cooperation on civil society level in the absence of diplomatic relations with Turkey and also the fact, that the start of such cooperation is not an easy way, taking into account, besides the absence of relations, the rejection by the Turkish media and Turkish society of a phenomenon like trafficking.

GRETA delegation was also concerned with how the youth and children are being informed about the issue to which the team responded through presentation of the format of the project ‘Knowledge Competition’ in Stepanavan financed by the Ministry of Youth and Sport Affairs.

Activities of www.antitrafficking.am have been discussed also.

Also, as David Dolidzen mentioned during the discussion, that www.anti-trafficking.am webpage is often being referred to by them. This was a nice surprise for the team.
