October 7 is World Day for Decent Work — a day when global trade union movement come together to demand that work provides dignity, safety and fair pay.
It should be simple. But for millions of workers around the world, decent work remains just an idea, not a reality.

The message is clear: decent work is not a privilege, it is a right.
This assault on the right to decent work and democracy isn’t happening by accident. Corporations are choosing profit over people, and billionaires are using those profits to fund far-right politics and militarisation to weaken workers’ rights and make the world less safe.
From platform workers fighting for basic protections to garment workers demanding safe conditions, from teachers struggling for living wages to care workers organising to demand respect for their work and those they care for— the fight for decent work is the fight for democracy that delivers for working people.
This fight matters. On this World Day for Decent Work, let’s make sure our voices reach as many people as possible.
In solidarity,
Luc Triangle
ITUC General Secretary
P.S. This World Day for Decent Work, workers are saying: enough is enough
