11 years for trafficking charges of the minor girl

Armen (faked name for the prosecuted young man) has been charged eleven years of imprisonment without deprivation of property in compliance to 2nd, 4th and 7th parts of the Article number 132.2 of the criminal code of R.A.


Today, in the court of first Instance of Shengavit community of Yerevan city a judicial trial on Armen’s case took place, during which the judge announced the sentence.

In the frames of the same case, the defendant had been once acquitted according to 1st, 2nd, 7th points of the second part of the Article number 34-132.2. Armen was indicted for the fact that in July 2011, he had recruited a victim of minor age with false promises to marry her, to have permanent residence in one of the Russian cities with his parent’s and false guarantee of a better life. For gaining trust of the girl and her friends, he represented his criminal partner Ani as his aunt’s daughter. By the initial agreement with Ani, Armen had simultaneously tried to recruit also victim’s friend, but was not successful in his criminal plans because the latter had refused to leave for Russian Federation. On July 10, 2011 they had transported the girl to Russia through the R.A. border checkpoint taking her passport in order to prevent her escape. By threatening and beating, they had tried to invlove the victim girl into prostitution, force to do it, and transfer the earned money to them, but she had stubbornly refused to be abused, and they invloved her in another exploitation, forced labor. From July 12 till July 28 Armen and Ani forced the victim into farming works. Armen, the defendant had announced in his last speech. “I have nothing to do with human trafficking, I ask you to justify me.
