On May 12, the Government of Armenia with the support of USAID-funded Data for Impact (D4I) Strengthening Armenia’s Counter-Trafficking Monitoring Systems project organized an event for the Counter-Trafficking Working Group (C-TIP WG). The WG meeting was held at Ani Grand Hotel and brought together 33 participants from state, non-state and international agencies.
The objective of the event was to present the 2020-2022 C-TIP National Action Plan (NAP) implementation monitoring expert findings and discuss the draft recommendations on the current status of the 2020-2022 NAP implementation. Specifically, the participants were provided with an analysis of both the C-TIP NAP implementation monitoring self-assessment results and the expert assessment. The findings will be used when developing the next NAP.
The event provided an opportunity for the MOLSA to kick off the planning meeting for developing the 2023-2025 counter-trafficking National Action Plan.
Ms Tatevik Stepanyan, the MOLSA Deputy Minister reiterated the importance of developing the NAP using evidence now generated from the assessments. She further noted that the Working Group event was timely and it is bringing together stakeholders whose efforts are to combat human trafficking which remains a top priority for the Armenian Government.
Ms Ani Manukyan, USAID Mission in Armenia Social Projects Manager stressed that USAID prioritizes Armenia’s efforts in combating human trafficking and will provide support to establish effective national systems aimed at preventing the crime.
Most of the participants /WG members agreed that the NAP indicators need to be improved in order to have working mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
