Trafficking in Human Beings in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situation – CARITAS Research

The research action titled “Trafficking in Human Beings in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations” has been carried out by Caritas France/ Secours Catholique through its international partner organizations’ network including “Armenian Caritas” BNGO.

The research action has been conducted within the framework of the “Program for the Strengthening of the Euro-Mediterranean Anti-trafficking Network” that includes 12 countries, mostly form Euro-Mediterranean region. The research aimed at revealing the risk of trafficking in those program involved countries that are either directly or indirectly- migrants, refugees affected by conflicts. Based on the findings according to which people in conflict and post-conflict situations are more at risk of trafficking, Caritas network started holding advocacy activities. As a result, during Human Rights Committee Session on June 15-17, in Geneva, the Special Rapporteur on trafficking, Maria Grazia Giammarinaro announced the link between migration, conflict, post conflict situations and trafficking as one of the priorities of her mandate citing the research conducted by Caritas network and International Organization for Migration.
