Knowledge Competition against Human Trafficking

Knowledge Competition against Human Trafficking

The project “Knowledge Competition against human trafficking” took place in the city of Sisian –the youth capital of Republic of Armenia in 2014.

In 2014 September, the Art Sight LLC and the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs jointly realized the project “Knowledge Competition against Human Trafficking” in the city of Sisian -the youth capital of Republic of Armenia, 2014.
This year, the creative team of “Art Sight” with the team of “Audio-Visual Reporters Association” worked out an interesting format for the exchange of knowledge with young people. This special format was the competition.
After the preparatory trainings organized earlier on, the participants should have shared their knowledge through competition. The topics were the following: human trafficking, Armenian diaspora and cultural-historical values of Sisian. The Brain Ring game’s “quick and right” principle has been chosen as the game principle.

In the 2013 RA government report about the “RA work on combatting human exploitation (trafficking)”, it is noted that in contrast to big cities, in small cities and villages, the knowledge standard of people about human trafficking is comparably low. Hence, the realization of the project in the city of Sisan was particularly significant in this regard.

The project was attended by 70 young people working or studying in different fields, students and high college pupils, representatives from state, social and business organizations. The experts invited to the trainings, who initially worked out the question list of the game, exchanged with necessary information with students. This exchange of knowledge would in the future not only help the participants give right answers during the game but also help to prevent and fight against the human trafficking.

The enhancement of knowledge among young people helps prevent and fight against this evil more effectively. In the first stage of the game, the 45 participants have been divided as per organization into 9 groups, with 5 gamers in each group. During this stage of the game, which took place in Sisian’s N3 high school hall, three winners have been announced, who already in the second stage of the game competed with each other in Sisian’s House of Culture named after Hamo Sahyan. Both stages of the game were realized with the active public participation. The teams were in the specially designed costumes symbolizing the Armenian three-color flag. The slogan “STOP TRAFFICKING” and the address of the www.antitrafficking.am were printed on the outfit.

The process of the game was highly productive. To ensure the transparency of the game, an initially planned computer program was used, which guaranteed the impartiality.
The winner orange group from N3 high school was awarded with bicycle as a unique symbol to a healthy lifestyle and to the awareness raising about the trafficking threat. The teams in the second and third places, which comprised of the employees of “Al Mari” NGO and Sisian city library, have been awarded with sport appliances and souvenirs with “anti-trafficking” slogans.

More detailed information about the project will be available soon.
