The RA Police held a meeting with journalists

On 25th of September, a press conference by the Police Criminal Investigations Executive Department’s 3-rd Department’s Head, colonel Nelli Duryan, took place.

During the conference, the journalists were presented the work implemented by the Police for the last 8 months of the year aimed at the prevention of offences and criminal actions by the minors, at the enhancement of minors’ legal consciousness, protection of rights as well as the detection and prevention of domestic violence cases. During the 8 months of 2014 year, there have been identified 243 crimes by minors of which 115 cases have been committed in the capital. The number of minor offenders was 160, which is 20 times less in numbers as compared with the last year. Hence, the “so-called” preferred offense by minors was, as always, the theft (116 cases). In comparison with the last year this number is less than 15.
There have been recorded 28 cases of body injuries, 2 assault cases, 7 cases of illegal possession of gun, 3 cases of drug manufacturing and selling, 4 cases of car theft, etc. Due to taken actions, there have been detected 18 minor beggars and vagrants, who have been treated accordingly. Also, further preventive measures have been implemented with the minors and their parents in the Police registry.
Nelli Duryan also presented the events periodically held in schools and activities of school inspectors, noting that the positive result was obvious. Speaking about cases of domestic violence recorded in 2014 during 8 months, Nelli Duryan underlined, that the importance of the issue lead to the creation of a special department in the Police. The department deals with the detection and prevention of domestic violence cases, as well as reveals the causation links of the offences and the methods of their elimination through research and analysis. During the 8 months of 2014 year there have been recorded 1501 cases of domestic violence. There are 138 cases of violence against minors, of which 7 cases are related to domestic violence.
At the end of the conference, Nelly Duryan answered the questions raised by the journalists.
